The Promoting Workplace Learning DVD launch
Launched on the 20th of June, at the impressive Craiglockhart Campus of Napier University in Edinburgh, the Promoting Workplace Learning DVD aims to encourage employer investment in work-related learning. 21 Sector Skills Councils (SSC's) and 6 Sector Skills Bodies (SSB's) are working collaboratively on this innovative project promoting the benefits of workplace learning to employers and employees across Scotland. The project's main output is an interactive DVD introduced by Shirley Robertson, double Olympic Gold Medal Yachtswoman, and a wide range of business leaders based in Scotland. The DVD contains a number of inspirational case studies along with information on the availability of workplace learning in each sector.
The collaborative nature of the project provides a benefit of scale not available to individual SSC'sand SSB's and is likely to lead to future partnership working activity in Scotland. The project has received continued support from the Skills for Business network and Key Stakeholders within the Lifelong learning arena across Scotland.
Other delivery partners include learndirect scotland, Futureskills Scotland, SSAScot and Scottish Executive who, along with the Scottish European Social Fund, are co-sponsors of the project..
The launch was attended by employers from all sectors, along with a wide range of skills and learning stakeholders. The event was facilitated by Stephen Carter, General Manager of St. Andrews Bay Golf Resort and Spa and speakers included Christine May MSP and Joan Stringer CBE, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Napier University, Rosemary Brown, owner of Easterton Stables and John Akram, Senior Stylist from Renella Hairdressing.
